I'm going to try and make this look presentable a bit later, but for now here are the bare bones:
By midday things were set up and ready, Quaid looking every bit his bubbly self today as he got to truly interact with people over something that interested him. Well, he couldn't say lassoing was still an integral part of his daily life, but that didn't mean he couldn't look back on his years of being a rodeo clown with a smirk. By the way, he wasn't against offering up that had been his first summer job/first real job, he wouldn't offer up much more information than that on the subject.
As for the set up itself: there are lengths of different stiffer ropes as this was a bit cobbled together, but all of it should work appropriately enough to lasso; Quaid encouraged people to try different ropes, though, if the one they originally had was proving too hard to work with. There is an open area simply for getting the hang of things (tying knot, stretching, coiling, and looping rope, plus wrist movements), as well as a little 'course' set up that has a number of taller objects that could be lasso'd from anywhere from five to forty feet away (go crazy with what they managed to find for this).
Quaid was on hand for any help past the tutorial that is for the moment a number of youtube videos on how to lasso (1, 2, 3, 4), plus he'd also wrangled Emmett into helping make sure no one got seriously injured.
