Event: Itinerant Horde

THE HORDE ARRIVES...

Friday morning brings with it biting temperatures, a thick fog which dissipates not long after the sun rises, and many, many zombies. As the Horde shambles into the area, the survivors of the Quad area are setting finishing the last touches of their plan and getting into position for their operation to Split and Destroy the Itinerant Horde.

This post will be used for all miscellaneous scenes set during this plot line. There will be a second post going up for mission scenes which will count for plot success activity tomorrow morning. Characters who volunteer for missions all know the plan but will not receive their own assignments and partners until late this evening, at which point the Cascade Hills teams will be dispatched to their locations.

Meagher Valley teams will be positioned Saturday morning, Providence Ridge teams Sunday morning, and Trumbull Valley teams Monday morning. The Horde is impassable by car, so please be mindful to note which side of the Horde your character is on at any given time. Those on teams will be prepared to camp out for a few days at their final locations, and will have safe elevated spots scouted for them ahead of time, but are also welcome to shelter at any community once the Horde has cleared it (ie, if you are assigned to Loch + Keogh, you can return to Whitney Field after the Horde clears it on Saturday afternoon).

If you have any questions about logistics, please do not hesitate to ask me either here or in the #questions channel on the Discord server. I realize this is a little complicated but I'm happy to help figure out where your character will be and be able to get! I'll have team assigns for people at about 9pm PST tonight, and the post for mission scenes will go up tomorrow morning.

The Horde passes through the village of Sawyer's Crossing before passing Lundegaard Lumber.

The Horde passes Camp Winchester on its way to Marshall.

Arlo's on notice: his ass is GETTING carried in the future. But the clipboards are also very important, and it would be incredibly inefficient to leave them here and have to double back later.

"Keller said I couldn't see Court yet so I oughta take a walk. Meant from more than that wing of the field hospital." Granted, this was like hours ago, but it still counts as something he can pout about from the running board of his stupid-ass truck. It's like everyone was telling him to get lost, even though most of them meant back to your hospital bed you goddamn moron. "D'you know if she's like... good."

"Oh my GOD, Arlo," Reggie groans loudly and exaggeratedly and plops down on the running board next to him. He truly is a pathetic man. This is unfortunately a compliment. "Court's so good I'd bet 50 merits she'll be trying to work tomorrow, and none of us are gonna stop her because her legs are fuckin' fine and we could use the help."

Arlo starts with "Yeah but–" and pauses because he doesn't know how to say Yeah but I always got to see her before 'cause I was her spouse and now it's the first time I can't 'cause we ain't no more and it's like a hit to my nuts 'cept about a foot and a half up and a li'l to the left and I don't care what y'all keep saying 'cause I won't know she's okay until I see her bein' okay without using so many words.

Actually, he decides none of that's Reggie's problem anyway because it's stupid feelings shit and not actual work shit, and she's dealing with his and Jem's actual work shit now — she's got enough on her plate. Even if she didn't, he's still worried about someone thinking he's trying to cause some stupid kind of drama in the station if he tries to talk about their divorce with any of them. If he can keep his business to himself, everyone else can focus on the whole 'end of the world' thing they've all got going on, which is definitely more important. He just has to buck up and get over everything.

While he's careful to keep his hands to himself lest he smear any wiped-away blood on Reggie, he (touch-starved as fuck) leans the sliiightest bit against her shoulder. "Reckon you're right. Broken bone ain't gonna keep her down."

Aw, gross, he's sweaty. But he's also a pathetic needy patient and Reggie is a medical professional with a savior complex, she can't just push him away. Besides, then he might fall on the ground and she'd have even more trouble getting him back to his goddamn bed.

"We're all seasoned idiots who don't know when to stop," says Reggie the hypocrite. "Now, do you want me to beat up Keller for you, big guy?"

"He's hurtin' bad for a wedgie," Arlo replies with a huff, mature as fuck. "'N I reckon I should get back before..."

Before...

Before a feeling very, very wrong and all too familiar happens in his esophagus. He tries to cough it out but the pressure builds, and he only has time to give her a quick pat on the knee and a "That's me." before he's dashing to the edge of the parking lot to take care of Imminent Black Fever Business. He should've brought a bucket.

He does make sure to throw Reggie a double thumbs-up before he's out of sight because if a grown man can do anything, it's puke in public due to his own poor decision-making before he carries on with his life like nothing happened.

Reggie throws a less enthusiastic thumbs up back his way, then continues on to the hospital, where the first thing she does is order someone to make sure Rattray gets in a goddamn bed before she gives Keller a wedgie already.
