Well, that was fun. Happy Halloween, everybody.

Can we get some Lundegaard guys out here sometime this week? I want to talk about infrastructure improvements and a few other projects.

It’s not clear to me if there is a hierarchy I should be following in this instance. You seem to be in charge, and I want us to look coordinated to Whitney.

And you seem to be anxious.

I want your help and insight. We're not a military operation.

I am anxious. Am I your second now? Or something else? It’s not clear to me how I’m ~~supposed to behave correctly~~ ~~fit~~ to understand my role now.

You're doing fine, John. Nothing's changed, Roswell just asked me to take point on this because Mara's not his biggest fan.

Maybe not, but I think those eyes are on the same goal.

Roswell's worried about Mara overreaching so we need to make sure when we show up that we're professional. We do the assessment, and maybe one quick repair out of politeness. Then we leave.

I think Roswell's being hyperbolic because he knows she's a businesswoman at her core, and she's going to get work for free if she can. Like we all would. This alliance will probably benefit Whitney more than the rest of us, so it makes sense they want to play the welcoming host and social destination.

Also, are you seriously going to start calling him an "executioner" in casual conversation?

Not everyone would get free work just because they can. Despite what both you and Mara seem to think.

What do you think he did, Gideon? Are you going to act offended on his behalf? I care about him as much as you, even if you don’t think so. But what he did wasn’t some insignificant accident, and I think it’s a disservice to him, us, and our community not to acknowledge that head on.

Everyone's looking out for their people, John. And they will cut corners if they have to. I respect it, I'm just preparing for it.

I just think it's kind of reductive and pretentious to talk about him like that. If you want to talk about how he killed a guy, just say it.

But I am saying it, Gideon. Very clearly. He is an executioner. He executed someone who has been with Lundegaard since the beginning, because he felt like it or because he thought it was right. If you want to get all literal with me, an executioner does it for a living, so let's at least be proper and call Roswell a murderer.

I offer my perspective when I think it will be useful. You are the one who picks apart the way I talk because, what? A wire boy shouldn’t speak to an engineer like that?

After all this time we've worked together to make Lundegaard what it is now, we've always had disagreements. You said so yourself.

But things are different now, Gideon.

I hated Hank and Logan. You know this, everybody knows this. I am glad they are dead. But if Roswell can kill someone who makes other people feel uncomfortable, who other people dislike, and we don't begin to question his decision-making or capacity for making sound judgment, where does that leave me? Roswell isn't my friend. You're not my friend.

I don't need you to answer. I am only explaining myself. I will remain useful to the community.

Tell me what you need me to do with Whitney once you've decided.
