📸 Fashion Show at the Outlet Mall

Everyone is instructed to meet Mara Kaufman at the Bridal Shop in the Prescott Outlet Mall mid-morning on the 6th. A moderately sized indoor shopping mall, it contains several outlet stores, including the Macy’s as well as the only GAP in the Quad area. At the time Day Zero occurred, many outlets were preparing for Prom Season, and as such there is an above-average amount of formalwear still available in the mall.

There are two phases to this event: one where Mara and her scavs will fetch options for everyone who attends, and one where there will be a final fashion show in the Bridal Shop, so selected for its existing raised catwalk. Mara has set up a generator and turned the lights on the Bridal Shop, but the rest of the mall is without power. 

Whitney’s scav corps have already cleared and secured the building of straggler zombies, but [Volunteer A] is jump-scared by one that was hiding in a Macy’s dressing room. Quick, kill it!

Whether or not they participate in the runway show themselves, Beau & Carter Betancourt give everyone a numerical score after they finish their catwalk. Mara awards the highest scorer with a jeweled tiara she found in the Bridal Shop.

Candi is aaaaalways eager to get out of Lundegaard, but to go SHOPPING?? And she doesn't even have to worry about the PRICE?? Dream come true, oh my god, dress her up like a little barbie doll, tell her she's the prettiest princess in the entire world, let her feel like a human being again.

Mud woke up here, slumped in his dog cart with a wet cigarette hanging out of his mouth, but at least he's wearing pants. Shorts. Whatever. He's not clear on what's happening but he's inside and that's always a win. Fuckin' do whatever it takes to turn him into an alien dinosaur or whatever the fuck they're doing here.

Although she's pretty set on being the Asteroid that Kills Everyone, Evening wanted to come along for this to see her victims and grab gold fabrics, and she's in a great mood about it. She was an AVID thrift store shopper in a previous life, the kind of person who could sniff out designer clothes for pennies, and this sort of fills that old hobby. Feels nice. She'll help others with their dresses too but never give anyone any advice that will make them hotter than she is.

For all that Beau tries to act like a tomboy who doesn't care about how she looks, she's obviously having a great time looking through the racks and looking for items that might suit the other Container Fort gremlins. She didn't step foot into a single mall for her prom shopping experience a decade ago, so Beau loudly pretends that they're at an exclusive designer boutique and tries to pull Carter into it.

Carter gladly plays along with this. Where's the complimentary champagne?

Carter's here and although she's still armed and wary, she's more relaxed than usual. This is fun. She's been to thousands of stores before, but this whole thing is a little more commercial than having a designer make couture for you personally. So it sort of touches on a nostalgia for memories she never really had. She's extremely picky, but has a good eye, and will not rest until every member of the Container Fort looks extremely cute.

Not mandatory, but if you answer a few questions Mara will pull an option for you.

What’s Their Favorite Dinosaur?: Velociraptor but mostly because she's seen Jurassic Park. Maybe. She knows the raptors are badass bitches though.
Pitch Your Aesthetic to Mara: Give her GLITTER, give her FLOOF, give Candi something that makes her feel like a PRINCESS 🎀👸✨ Keeping in mind that it will be at least half-trashed by the end of the night, even if there's no zeds.

For Arlo, Mara finds a men's blazer which features hundreds of long metallic sequin tassels stitched in a chevron pattern, as to create a fringe effect (like so: 1, 2). She warns him to style it classy, though.

What’s Their Favorite Dinosaur?: Shamefully missed out on the Dinosaur Phase of childhood, so she just says T-rex. It's big! It stomps!
Pitch Your Aesthetic to Mara: Hot girl grease monkey for day-to-day, but comfortable swapping to black tie formal mode. Her tastes run more practical than ornate, but she's excited to run through the stores trying out a bunch of different options and has a secret affection for more princessy details.

What’s Their Favorite Dinosaur?: Microraptors. They're fancy little murder birds. Carter did not miss her dinosaur phase. She's been reading books at parties since she was like 6.

Character Name: Edgar de Leon
What’s Their Favorite Dinosaur?: Torn between archaeopteryx (love an ostentatious feather moment) and triceratops (iconic silhouette, protector).
Pitch Your Aesthetic to Mara: Edgar's well-recorded pre-outbreak was classic luxury menswear in earth tones (NYC casual, Italian suiting), in the manner of someone who cared a lot more about looking good all the time than expressing a unique personality. This is not what he says, and instead he pitches: "Color. Texture. Dazzle."

What’s Their Favorite Dinosaur?: "Uh... What kind was Dino in the Flintstones??"
Pitch Your Aesthetic to Mara: DRAMATIC. He wants to make a STATEMENT. Currently considering wearing a cape. Will wear any ridiculous pattern or color for the bit, even if his usual colors are ~soft pastels~

What’s Their Favorite Dinosaur?: T-rex. She knows it's, like, the most typical answer you'd get from some 5-yo that hasn't discovered nuance, but also look at those stupid fucking arms, lmao.

What’s Their Favorite Dinosaur?: Hands down the shit brick-house of a sub, plesiosaurus.
Pitch Your Aesthetic to Mara: If asked about his personal style, Quaid would scrunch up his face in thought before offering, "Uh, like a ranch hand?" It's a question because he's really not sure if that's true and has never considered what his ~aesthetic~ is before in his life :)

What’s Their Favorite Dinosaur?: Badassasaurus, a dinosaur that Arlo made up when he was a kid. It's covered in spikes but is an herbivore.
Pitch Your Aesthetic to Mara: Hoodies...? It pretty much is just whatever mostly fits and whatever keeps him warm. He is happy to entertain any style.

"The fuck's wrong with this?" Mud grumbles and hops out of the dressing room to present an outfit of a mesh shirt and cargo shorts to his audience. "Perfectly good fuckin' outfit."

Beau dragged in a couch from elsewhere in the mall just so they could sit in style for this showing.

"This is black tie formal. You can't be showing knee, Mud." She looks over his outfit again, and makes a note on her handheld whiteboard. "A bit of nipple is fine, though."

Carter leans on her sister’s shoulder, nodding in approval at whatever is on this whiteboard. “It’s almost a look.” She concedes. “If you had a suit jacket and pants instead of the shorts.”

"Sweatpants," Mud tries to negotiate. "Or assless chaps."

"They're not gonna let you have your ass out," Dutch says skeptically.

"You're saying there ain't gonna be a single ass out?"

“To my understanding, all dinosaurs were extremely shy about their asses.” She says without popping a smile

Beau's whiteboard features a stick figure, with arrows pointing to every part of the body so far Mud wants to be indecently exposed. She writes "ASS" and draws the arrow.

"What if we got you leather pants? Really hug those curves."

"Gonna wind up yanking my damn leg off gettin' 'em off again." This is not necessarily a negative, just a fact.

"We can cut them off you," Beau says, with the confidence of someone who will not be taking on the job of removing Mud's pants after he's spent several hours sweating in them. (Duke and Bunny, maybe. They have strong noses.) "What's your favorite dinosaur?"

Mud gives Beau the confused squint of a man who dropped out in eighth grade and has done everything in his power to not learn a damn thing since.

"Me?"

“Mud, don’t call yourself a dinosaur. That’s so mean.” Carter circles the head of the stick figure and writes brain with little stars around it, as another thing they should be highlighting. Maybe asking a lot of an outfit. But she’s confident
