Carter calmly slides the baggie into her coat pocket, looking up at her new visitor. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She says, practically on cue, like this isn’t the second time literally today she’s done that exact thing.
The spread of Nat's smile is lazy, more out of amusement than the blood loss. "I'm pretty sure even a zombie could smell peanut butter from a mile away. Are you an Oreos person then?"
“No.” Carter can say pretty definitively, as she ate an Oreo five months ago and was wildly underwhelmed. “For the kids,” she feels compelled to explain. “I think some of the other younger ones get a little bitter about all the treats that come with Summit functions. So. We try to bring some home. There’s plenty left if you want.” She smiles, innocent, and holds one additional Oreo out to Nat.
"I don't want to steal cookies from children," charmed that Carter would think of the kids, Nat waves her off. Which also means she has to blink a few times when the shake of her head shakes loose some dark spots in her vision.
"Okay, maybe one. I won't tell the general," she nods towards a clipboard laden Reggie, presiding over the group. "Unless you're into that."
"They'll have plenty." Carter insists, especially once she clocks the slow blink, and shoves out the cookie a little more insistently. She does pretend she has no idea who Nat could be speaking of, cocking her head to clock Reggie. She doesn't look long. "Oh. No. Keep it secret. Famously not into snitches, actually."
Nat takes the sugary gift with gratitude before biting it clean in half. "You aren't, or she's not," Nat prods with a smile, making sure to finish chewing before she speaks. "I thought you were both just famously into eachother." Another bite.
"Ew." This is probably too violent and immediate, if quiet. She does consider just turning around and leaving, but that'd be even more damning. Carter course corrects by wrinkling her nose. "I mean. I wouldn't. Say it like that. No snitches is the main thing."
Ew? Nat does her best to control her instinctive laughter to that reaction and finishes her Oreo at an unbothered, leisurely pace. "How would you say it, then?" Nat asks sincerely, quietly. "Why would it be so bad?"
