END OF THE WORLD PARTY

THE LOBBY: Beau & Carter
"I didn't win," she says into Carter's hair. They're not really touchy-feely—not since they were kids, anyway—and for a moment Beau just closes her eyes and lets herself enjoy her sister's closeness.
THE LOBBY: Beau & Carter
Still. Carter smiles, folding her book down on the table and reaching up to squeeze her twin's arms. "I'm sorry." She says softly, commiserating without any hint of mocking, today. "Feeling okay?"

THE LOBBY: Beau & Carter
“I have to say. They’d be doing a pretty good job at it. Making it a contest to kill yourselves quickest. Don’t let them win. Drink water.”
THE LOBBY: Beau & Carter
She drops into the nearest stool and orders a water. "Wild they have so much booze they can just hand it out for free. Think of all the bombs they could make." Not a random topic change, with the cover of Carter's book facing her.
THE LOBBY: Beau & Carter
"So many. They'd be a good resource. If they were willing to participate. They might. Alcohol spreads fast, if it's on fire. Roasts a lot of bodies at once."
She realizes too late she's talking to her sister, who's drunk and liable to nausea, about viscerally disgusting things and silently winces to apologize for getting carried away here.
THE LOBBY: Beau & Carter
"Their second-in-command might. She runs their brewery too." Beau's fingers absently run over the nine X's tattooed to her forearm. "Worst case scenario. Could we still do it without them?"
THE LOBBY: Beau & Carter
"That's who I was thinking of. Yeah." She says, removing her hand to take a distracted sip of the juice thing she'd ordered hours ago, "She sounded open. But...worst case? Chemicals you can't drink are flammable, too. It'd take a lot. Of what we have. We'd have to be more strategic. In their building, and their placement. But. I think we could."
THE LOBBY: Beau & Carter
"We don't need to do it all at once, either. Several teams at a time, distracting the horde from different directions..." Some people will get hurt, or worse. She lets herself imagine that, and moves on. "We get to safety, we regroup, we wait until the horde reaches the next location. Just keep chipping away at it like that. And Prescott had that idea to do alternates, to relieve teams."
THE LOBBY: Beau & Carter
"While we rest, we build more weapons. Absolutely tag in alternate teams. I'd like to finish checking out routes and ambush points ahead of time, map where they might go. Give us an idea of what phase two looks like, even now."
This is the most she's said out loud in maybe a week, and she stops, looking up at Beau, slightly abashed. Her sister had come over here drunk and ostensibly happy. "We don't have to plan all this. This minute, though. We're at a party."
