END OF THE WORLD PARTY
Locations
THE OUTFIELD
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
"Christ," she exhales slowly.
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
"Brilliant minds," he greets, eyeing the cigarette as he rewinds his steps back to her. He blinks, clarifies: "Great minds, I mean."
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
"Can't believe you'd fumble that," she replies with the slightest bit of humor. "But yes, this is clearly the best place to greet the second end of the world."
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
"I mean, you could," he concedes, instead shoving his fists in the pocket of his jean jacket. Very casual. "But you'd miss us."
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
"And I wouldn't want to stress Mara out by stealing a car. So, I suppose I'm stuck. At least the party isn't terrible."
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
Not that he had anything to do with this. If he had, there'd be more marketing.
He nods at the cigarette. "Is this the usual recipe?"
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
"This one has a bit of lavender. Figured some extra calm before the storm couldn't hurt."
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
"Nice," he tells her, breathing out, watching the smoke spiral. Some things never change.
"You weren't wrong." The stars are wheeling overhead for a second drag. He offers the cigarette back and doesn't move away, but it's not a thing. It's just kind of cold for the current moment. He can feel it in his cheeks and nose, which are blushing.
"How are you? For real."
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Arwen
"It's nice, isn't it?" Even as she says this though, she's frowning at his question.
"...I don't know." A beat. "A little bad, maybe. How are you?"
THE OUTFIELD: Beck & Open
He didn't actually mean to do this -- he meant to just fuckin' stroll it off and breathe in the chill until he felt more normal after talking to Arwen -- but he's abnormally drunk, and the way this person wrapped some of their plants in burlap made him think about his mom. So he has to do it. Even though his mom would hate Whitney Field and the fact that he just took six shots to try to win a plastic tiara.
THE OUTFIELD: Mara & OPEN
She has to brace herself on the metal fence as she totters. It's unpleasantly cold to the touch, but she still grips it tightly as she contemplates the freeway.
THE OUTFIELD: Mara & Arwen
"Have you had any water?" she asks, tone slightly scolding. It's a nice distraction from thinking about where Mara's gaze rests.
THE OUTFIELD: Mara & Arwen
THE OUTFIELD: Mara & Arwen
As Mara's eyes meet hers, she frowns a little. "...are you worrying, or planning?" She inclines her head towards the road.
THE OUTFIELD: Nat & OPEN
Quiet, starlight contemplation interrupted, Nat's cigarette nearly does get fumbled to the grass. "Are you okay?"
THE OUTFIELD: Nat & Duke
"Oh shit, yeah, sorry bro." He looks curiously to her, and then to her cigarette. "Didn't mean to crash your quiet time or whatever."
THE OUTFIELD: Nat & Duke
THE OUTFIELD: Nat & Duke
"Savin' my lungs for engine exhaust. Definitely agreed that the ambiance out here is good as hell with the smoke wisps, though. Givin' the stars our own little clouds." His voice is a little dreamy as his eyes drift upwards.
"You think about what kinda tattoo you want?"
THE OUTFIELD: Nat & Duke
"Your brother tells me you'd do a great muppet."
THE OUTFIELD: Nat & Duke
Yes, there is a horde of zombies on their way, but muppets are always a balm.
"Who's your favorite?"
THE OUTFIELD: Nat & Duke
"The rat actually," Nat grins. "But I'd like to be a total cliche and your brother mentioned you gave him a little buddy. So Beaker."
THE OUTFIELD: Nat & Duke
"Can do both, you know. If you want double muppets. Could see how it might be a little much, though." For some people, but he doesn't add this, because it sounds judgmental.
