If they have any chemical stores, you may want to ask for any bleach or antifreeze for the winter. Possibly also lye, for Maggie’s purposes. And of course bullets.

Prescott has offered me the opportunity to come do some responder training and I think it would be good for me to take them up on it, so I will have less time.

Jem Carmichael has offered to lend me a horse from their stables, so I will be able to return in the evenings most nights and schedule check-ups on the days when I am at Lundegaard. I appreciate you and Ophelia stepping up to be on call for emergency first aid, but you can’t replace me that easily there is no need to bring someone in to replace me.

Nobody is going to replace you. I just think it is good practice to have a point person for medical emergencies. [...] I had to take an OSHA class for my union.

What is our contingency plan if someone is injured or becomes sick while Maggie is away? Especially now we are entering cold and flu season. It would be helpful to have someone at Lundegaard who can fill in for her.

I mean, we can just radio them now if we have an emergency.

But before we didn’t have to wait for anyone to make a crossing.

I only think it is prudent that we have someone designated when Maggie is away, and everyone is aware of that protocol. We have heavy machinery, we have children. Things can turn very quickly.

You have first aid training, don't you?

You think I am suitable to respond to people in crisis.

You worked on the power lines. Doesn't that involve responding to emergencies?

Probably for like 15 to 20 minutes at least.

Well, Emmett's going over there tomorrow to talk to them about their horses. Maybe he can ask around about if anyone would be interested in shadowing at the ranch for awhile. Since everyone's swapping around. Who wants to go live at the Container Fort?

I don't know much more about them than you do. I've met Jem before, and Celia once. They both seemed like good people to me, but also it's been a long year.
