BIRTHDAY BAR NITE

Wednesday night brings the Lobby a large influx of celebrants. It's Reggie and Beck's birthday! This is just a normal night at the bar functionally; unless otherwise noted, all characters will have to pay for their own drinks, although Ares will bully everyone to purchase them for the birthday kids. He made a very simple cake with a somewhat expired box mix, and didn't kill anyone while doing it, but there's not really enough for everyone. Sorry! At a certain point there are fireworks! This is the most basic ic/ooc in the whole world but have fun.

Having a good one tonight. It's her BIRTHDAY, nobody's DYING — in fact, no one's EVER died except for that feral deer. Reggie gets disastrously drunk and actually seems like she's enjoying herself and the presence of other people. Get ready for chest bumps and arm punches and so many high fives.

Mara is still high out of her mind on painkillers, so she's in a great mood. Instead of her usual crazy party outfits, she's just wearing a rust orange fleece pullover and black yoga pants.

Beck is like family to her, and she is suitably embarrassing as she constantly turns attention back to him. She's got her camera and takes a lot of pictures not just of Beck but also of Reggie (covertly, if need be).

Back at full power! Stronger than ever! Reggie and Beck are both baseball captains so of course they are now also Dutch's good friends. Despite all her bluster about being recovered, she's a little lower-energy than she usually is. She's in her usual sort of punky black and leather wardrobe and has ✨fresh eyeliner✨ on.

He is sort of at the end of his rope emotionally after a long day of trudging through the woods looking for a deer feral. At least the problem is solved now, but if this were anyone's birthday party besides Reggie's, Jem would probably have just gone home for the night. He sticks it out for awhile, and has exactly one (1) drink which does nothing to help his sulky attitude.

Roswell always feels moderately unwelcome at Whitney Field Depot, but he did turn up for this party with the intention of being sociable. Results vary from interaction to interaction.

LOLA LIVES HERE! She rocked up fitted out in a white sweater with a sparkly unicorn in 3D puff vinyl across the chest. She thinks of Beck as her large adult baby boy and has probably called him this while high at least once—she's here to show him BIRTHDAY SUPPORT! And Reggie too, hello Reggie!

Edgar feels (and looks!) a lot better since the last birthday party, not least because he's back in home territory, getting to sleep in his own car. Alright, that's a downgrade from being in a hospital bed, but the hustle and bustle of Whitney Field Depot is good for the spirit! Edgar is fresh-faced and sporting a new/old monogrammed fleece jacket, and toasts both Beck and Reggie with free drinks.

Nat is less on bar duty tonight (though helping when needed), so she is imbibing a little more than usual and here to celebrate her outpost buddy Beck as well as Reggie. She's been trying to wingman Terry the bartender so we'll see how the night goes.

Beck's had a strange, tiring, isolated time in the wake of the horde, as much as he wouldn't like to admit it. Used as he is to existence at Mazzara Farm, where there's always something to do and not as many people as there should be to do it, and usually he enjoys that, the other thing he is equally loathe to admit is that he kind of hasn't enjoyed it lately.

So the environment here is overwhelming. The gifts -- from people he likes and people he doesn't know -- are overwhelming. He almost feels alive. He puts on Lola's star-shaped glasses and swans about the place.

arlo rolled reggie two joints and then he found out it's beck's birthday so he............ gave him what he had on him, which was a battered paperback version of flowers for algernon with four different people's names written on the inside cover, none of them arlo's.

For Reggie: Some cheese, and some random photos from a high school sports event that she just happened to appear in (specifics are up to you, though!).

For Beck: Emmett doesn't really know him well, so he gets some bacon.

Nat already gave Beck her gift earlier, but for Reggie, as promised she gives her a glass of the good shit (Macallan whisky) before giving her a full flight taste test of the homebrew whisky the Distillery has going on. She gives her a bottle of whichever one she liked best at the end.

Beck, who Emre doesn't really know at all and only last minute realized was also having a birthday, gets an empty whiskey bottle with the labels scraped off and two flowers shoved in it. Look! It's a vase! (yes, this is the last minute gift).

Arwen already had Beck's gift delivered to him in the morning.

Reggie gets a small canister filled with dried leaves for tea - a mix of lemon balm, feverfew, and mint. It's supposed to be good for tension and headaches, which she figures there's no way Reggie doesn't have.

Reggie gets just what she asked for - Providence Ridge's 4H sign, beaten into the shape of a tube with random bits of other junk attached to it. It's a little big for a trophy - about the size and general shape of a traffic cone, but the base is a sturdy sheet of metal and it should be easy enough to lash it to the front of a fire engine. Written on it is '#1 Badass Reggie'. There's also a little red F, by Arlo, on the base.

Beck gets a cute watering can that has clearly seen better days. But it's the thought that counts! He drew some flowers on it with his paint markers to give it new life.

Emre, who is very much an adult, is going to talk to Nat. Did he make sure to get a little drunk with Henry before doing this? Absolutely. But it's the only thing that's giving him the nerve, even if it's only enough nerve to wait for her to go outside so he can follow her to chat. Trying to talk to her in there, with all the people and noise, seems like too much.

"Hey, Nat," he says as he lets the door swing shut behind him, the back of his neck immediately prickling. Luckily, he has another drink that he can sip from for something to do.
